Pi Phi Style Show & Luncheon, April 7th

On April 7th, the Belo Mansion was transformed into an amazingly gorgeous  style show venue as over 400 guests were whisked away with a "Passport to Fashion"!   This fabulous event was co-chaired by Beth Clark, Barbara Daniel, Charlyn Holmes , Lisa Reid and Sally Holglund as our Honorary Chair.  We had over 70 Pi Phi models, including some handsome husbands and adorable children.   They modeled dozens of lovely outfits from our five amazing stores:  Betty Reiter, J. McLaughlin, Tootsies, KidBiz & TheBiz, and Pockets.

We are proud to say that the event was a huge success, raising well over the amounts committed to our Beneficiaries who provide literacy and education to the most needy in our community.  Our Beneficiaries for this year are:

Catch Up & Read  ~  The Family Place

Jubilee Park & Community Center  ~  Mi Escuelita Preschool  ~  Readers 2 Leaders

Reading Partners  ~  West Dallas Community School  ~  Pi Beta Phi Foundation

February Pink Party

The lovely home of Robin Lewis was glowing in pink on the night of February 19th!  Pi Phi's of all ages gather each year for this fun party where we celebrate the joy of sisterhood.  We call it the 'Pink Party' because we wear pink in tribute to the Valentine's season and the fun of a girls' night out.  This year's fun event was fabulously chaired by Kathy Sockwell and Kristin Johnson and was held at Robin Lewis' gorgeous home which is a treat in itself.  A huge thank you to all three of them for a wonderful evening!

January Monthly Meeting

Our January meeting was a 'new year, new you' type of day!  Our amazing and darling speaker was Dr. Molly Burns Austin, a dermatology resident at UT Southwestern and daughter of the well-known Dr. Jay Burns.   As an extra bonus, Molly herself was a Pi Phi at Baylor and was so nice to speak to our alumnae club!  Her presentation was fabulous as she covered all elements of skin care from the most subtle to the more dramatic.  The meeting was packed with very interested and appreciative Pi Phi alums who gained so much from her knowledge and suggestions.   Thank you to Lucina Thompson for hosting this meeting in her lovely home!

December Pi Phi Holiday Open House

The home of Barbara Hunt Crow was the most perfect location for our annual Tea and Open House!  We had Pi Phi's of every age there to enjoy the fabulous food and the absolutely gorgeous decorations.  Angels were everywhere! They were hanging from trees, decorating the tables, served as adorable cookies and handed out as party favors.   We also had photo buttons for anyone who wanted one, and a lovely string quartet provided festive holiday music.  We wholeheartedly thank Margaret Crow for her incredible generosity in hosting this in her home, and for the fabulous mother/daughter teams who chaired the event - Carol Nelson with Caroline and Laura, along with Marty Kelley with Christiana.

November Monthly Meeting

We were in for a real treat at our November meeting when Bill Noble of William Noble Rare Jewels kept us spellbound with his knowledge and tips about rare jewels!   He brought some amazing pieces, both new and vintage, to display on a table that literally glittered with gold.  His presentation was enthralling with talk of his international buying trips, the value of owning fine jewelry, and the trends he sees in jewelry.   It was an amazing presentation and we hated when it was time for him pack up and leave!  Thank you to Mimi Vanderstraaten for having the meeting at her lovely home, and to Carol Dalton, Julie Miller and Jennie Gilchrist for serving as hostesses for this meeting.

October Monthly Meeting

It was a lovely Fall day on which to be entertained and educated by Mary Brinegar, President and CEO of the Dallas Arboretum!  We held our monthly meeting at the home of Tracey Beckwith where Mary's wonderful presentation highlighted the lovely gardens and upcoming exhibits of the Arboretum.  Dallas Pi Phi has a special relationship with the Arboretum after we made a large contribution to the Childrens' Garden and also donated hundreds of angels for last year's Degolyer exhibit.   Thank you to Sandra Hipps, Mauri Tardy and Lucina Thompson for serving as hostesses for this meeting.

Kickoff Meeting at Tootsies, September 18th

We had a great time kicking off our 2014-2015 Alumnae Club year on September 18th with a lively meeting at Tootsies!  All alumnae groups were represented, including the Day Group, Junior Day and Junior Night.  The event, wonderfully chaired by Sandra Hipps and JoAnne Moore, began with appetizers and wine downstairs where we could all visit and browse among Tootsies' lovely clothing, shoes and accessory items.  We then moved to the second floor where we held our business meeting and style show featuring our own Pi Phi models dressed in Tootsies fabulous outfits.  One of the highlights of the evening was the announcement of our upcoming Pi Phi Style Show and Luncheon, creatively themed  "Passport to Fashion"  to be held on April 7th, 2015.  We are extremely proud to announce that the beneficiaries of this luncheon are agencies dedicated to literacy and education in our community.  Our 2015 beneficiaries are:

Pink Party, February 13th

Our annual Tasting Party, known as our "Pink Party" was held at the home of Simone Howell on February 13th.  This fun and extremely creative party was hosted by Simone Howell and Martha Sheeder.  There were shades of pink everywhere - including table linens, chair angel wings, flowers and ribbons.  Everyone had a great time visiting with Pi Phi sisters, eating the wonderful homemade baked ziti, and the big surprise was an old fashioned cookie shine.  It was a wonderfully fun evening!

Christmas Tea, December 17th

The Dallas Arboretum DeGolyer Estate was the location of our fabulous ChristmasTea held on December 17th.  The lovely estate home was exquisitely decorated by angels of all types and sizes throughout every room.  There were hundreds of these lovely angels, all donated by Pi Phi alumnae.  It was sight to behold and the display was open to the public throughout the holiday season.  Many thanks to our Christmas Tea Chairs, Clemmie Bernet, Jenny Galbraith and Charlyn Holmes for hosting this lovely event for our Alumnae Club members.  It was a fun and festive way to celebrate the holidays with Pi Phi sisters, grandmothers, mothers and daughters!
